I started my journey with weight training in my early twenties. But it was at 28, after having two children close together, that I truly understood what strength meant to me.
I wanted to reconnect with my body, but I knew it wasn't the same body I had before. My goals had changed, my priorities had changed, and with two young children, my time was limited.
I started simply - with two dumbells, a barbell and 70kg of weights at home.
And somehow, with less time and more demands on me than ever, I became stronger than I had ever been.
But I also recognise that I was fortunate. When I began again, I already understood how to train. I knew what progressive overload meant. I knew how to structure a workout. I knew how to lift safely.
After my second child, who was born via C-section, I also experienced diastasis recti. Rebuilding my core and reconnecting with my muscles became my starting point.
That process changed my relationship with training.
I stopped seeing excercise simply as something that changed how my body looked, and started seeing it as something that changed what my body could do.
Today, strength means being able to throw my child into the air without them feeling too heavy.
It's being able to chase my children without constantly running out of breath.
It's carrying, lifting, climbing, playing and keeping up - even during one of the most physically demanding and exhuasting seasons of my life.
It's knowing that I am capable of more.
And that's what I want to share with other women.
Because I don't believe strength should be about punishment, shrinking ourselves or trying to become who we were before.
I believe women deserve to feel capable.
Capable in their bodies.
Capable in motherhood.
Capable of becoming more.
